Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist supports Payroll Professionals' payroll operations by processing client payrolls, maintaining employee data, and providing responsive service to clients. This role works alongside the payroll team and reports directly to the Payroll Supervisor.

This is an independent, detail-oriented role requiring strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple client payrolls simultaneously. The employee is expected to perform their responsibilities with minimal day-to-day supervision while maintaining consistent communication with the Payroll Supervisor.

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position with a consistent weekly schedule:

  • Core days: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
  • Core hours: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Total core hours: 12 hours per week
  • Flexibility to support business demand and team coverage as needed -- additional hours may be available but are never required beyond the core schedule

Essential Responsibilities

Process payroll accurately and on time based on each client's preferences and schedule

  • Apply correct multi-state tax withholding and compliance requirements based on employee work and residence locations
  • Respond to client payroll questions by phone, email, and fax in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain accurate database records for employee information, benefit deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related data
  • Assist team members with processing and issuing W-2 forms on behalf of clients
  • Support daily operations including ensuring outbound mail and packages are processed in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all client and employee data at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in payroll, human resources, or a financial-related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior hands-on payroll processing experience
  • Familiarity with payroll software systems
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Prior experience in a client-facing or professional services environment

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
